Audience

From what I have learned about audience so far, it seems pretty simple. It is simply the person or group of people that you intend to communicate something with. This can be a speech, a slideshow, a movie. An example would be the audience of the memo I just posted. The audience would be the base level employees that have to submit the documentation after their runs. An audience can be big, but more often than not, it is a small group of people that you want to send a message to.

This applies to the workplace when it comes to knowing who you are speaking to. Are you speaking with an executive, a legal team, a custodian. Depending on who you are speaking to, you may have to tailor what you say and do so that they will best understand you. This could make the difference between getting the results you want and getting rejected. This is formally called audience analysis (Pressbooks, 2015)
