In my line of work we use Memo’s all the time. It goes along-side emails. The quick and friendly but official looking nature of the paper makes it naturally draw attention. If you walk into work, and you see a new, official and colorful memo on the wall; then it may have a similar effect as a magnet. It is very useful for topics that the audience may not find very interesting, such as administrative changes, or a safety problem. You would think that EMS would have a lot more interesting news, but many of the changes we make are very boring, minute changes that are mostly administrative in nature. The memos are a useful tool for this. It doesn’t require their attention for very long, and it leaves a paper trail.
I used them as a way to introduce my PLP, because we have started learning plans at my employers this way as well.
On page 16 of the text, we go over the process for this. There is a formal and uniform way to go about this that includes a date, a company logo, ect. It is specifically designed to deliver a quick and efficient message. (New Praire Press, 02/04/2016)
